About Chiklihole Reservoir Coorg

Chiklihole Reservoir, located between Madikeri and Kushalnagar, is a must-see on your Coorg tour. Kushalnagar and Madikeri are about 15 kilometres apart. Nanjarayapattana is the closest town to the Reservoir.

The reservoir was built on one of the Cauvery River's tributaries. Although the location is not as well-known as other tourist attractions in Coorg, it does provide some enjoyable experiences for visitors. This is the place to go if you want some seclusion and privacy away from the crowds. You are presented with scenic beauty that is worth capturing.

This large body of water is ideal for nature lovers. The area surrounding Chiklihole reservoir, pronounced 'Chikli-holey,' is endowed with lush greenery and rich fauna and flora of the surrounding forest, making it a pleasant setting to spend a few special moments.

It's a great place for a picnic and thus a great place for a family outing. The sunset view from here is spectacular and should not be missed if you are at the reservoir. It also provides fantastic photographic opportunities. Because there are no shops near the reservoir, it is best to bring all necessary supplies with you.

How to Reach Chiklihole Reservoir

Coorg is well linked to Karnataka's various cities and towns. Mangalore and Mysore airports are the two closest airports to the Chiklihole reservoir, at a distance of 166 km and 116 km, respectively. To get to the reservoir, take a bus or book a private cab from there.

Mysore Railway Station is the closest station. Tourists can take state buses or rent a car from Mysore to Coorg for a hassle-free ride.

Since the Chiklihole dam is not linked by public transportation, visitors from Kushalnagar, Siddapur, or Suntikoppa can book a private cab from one of Coorg's top car rental companies to get to the dam.

Entry Fees and Timings of Chiklihole Reservoir

Chiklihole Reservoir does not charge an entrance fee. The reservoir is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.

Best Time to Visit Chiklihole Reservoir

The months of June to March are ideal for visiting the Chiklihole Dam. The monsoon and winter seasons are ideal, not just because of the pleasant weather, but also because the dam has more water at this time.
